Courtney Simmons-Matthews is a distinguished healthcare provider with over 25 years of experience in behavioral and mental health care, her career focus spanning critical care, forensics, pediatrics, and psychiatry. Courtney holds dual certifications as a Family-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and is a licensed Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) provider for opioid use disorders.
Courtney's journey into healthcare was deeply influenced by her upbringing, instilling values of compassion, education, and service. Insurance eligibility, verification, and billing are managed through our third-party insurance specialists at Alma. Patients will be notified by Alma’s insurance specialists 24 to 48 hours prior to scheduled appointments regarding any estimated out of pocket responsibility, co-insurance, or deductibles (if applicable). Balances and fees are to be paid prior to scheduled appointment via the patient portal on the clinic’s website. For patients covered by Alma’s participating insurance partners, payments will be managed through Alma’s billing/collections associated with the following insurers:

- United Health CareWe accept cash, major credit cards, Zelle, and Flexible Medical Spending Accounts. All previous and current balances, copays, and deductibles are to be paid prior to the scheduled visit.
We offer free 15 minute consultations, without any obligations. It's important to meet with potential health care providers to identify if they're the right fit for you. Consultations allow you to see if you have a connection with the provider, inquire about services, and determine if the provider has the credentials to meet your personal needs. Following the consultation, the patient will have the opportunity to decide whether he or she would like to move forward with establishing a formal patient-provider relationship.

To help reduce absences from work, school, or for urgent (non-emergency) behavioral health situations, we offer extended clinic hours on weekdays and Saturdays, by confirmed appointment only. A $40 Convenience fee will be added to rendered services and must be paid in full prior to scheduled appointment time. Patients will be provided with a formal excuse letter upon request.

To obtain the most comprehensive medical-psychiatric evaluation, your provider may ask you to recall some sensitive information. Your health and safety are our biggest priority, so we ask that you remain honest wherever you are on your journey. Please be prepared to discuss any previously diagnosed medical or psychiatric conditions, date of diagnosis, medication history, past traumas, psychiatric hospitalizations, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts, or substance use.
We strongly encourage our patients to complete all required documents prior to the appointment. Prior to the initial appointment, each patient is required to fill out pre-admission forms consisting of policy and procedures, consents, release of health records, cancellation policy, screening tools, and a medical-psychiatric history questionnaire. All forms should be completed and submit electronically via our HIPPA compliant patient portal. All information will be reviewed by a psychiatric provider to help customize a personalized plan of care, incorporating your goals and measurable timeframes.
Each patient is required to upload a copy (front and back) of their active driver’s license or state I.D., social security card, insurance card(s) into the patient portal. Personal information will not be shared with any outside agencies and is only required for health and safety purposes associated by care delivered by Pilgrimage of Hope Behavioral Health and Wellness.
